Alexander Fleming
Alexander Fleming lahir 6 Agustus 1881 Fleming adalah ketujuh dari delapan bersaudara dari seorang petani bukit Skotlandia (ketiga dari empat anak dari istri kedua petani). Negaranya asuhan di barat daya Skotlandia diasah kapasitasnya untuk observasi dan apresiasi terhadap dunia alam pada usia dini. Ia mulai sekolah dasar di Loudoun Moor dan kemudian pindah ke sekolah yang lebih besar di Darvel sebelum mendaftar di Kilmarnock Academy di 1894. Mulanya, penicillin cuma disediakan buat penggunaan para korban perang, tetapi tahun 1944 dapat digunakan oleh masyarakat sipil di Inggris dan Amerika.Tatkala perang rampung di tahun 1945, penggunaan penicillin sudah menyebar ke seluruh dunia.Penemuan penicillin amat menggugah penyelidikan bidang antibiotik lain, dan penyelidikan berikutnya telah membuahkan pelbagai "obat ajaib" namun, penicillin tetap merupakan antibiotik yang paling luas di pakai.
Satu sebab yang membikin keunggulannya langgeng adalah: penicillin efektif untuk melawan pelbagai rupa mikro organisme yang berbahaya. Obat ini berguna buat penyembuhan sipilis, gonorrhea, diphtheria, juga pelbagai macam arthiritis, bronchitis, scarlet, lever, gangrene dan banyak lagi.
Keuntungan penicillin lainnya adalah relatif aman dipakai. Dosis 50.000 unit penicillin efektif buat melawan pelbagai infeksi. Dan suntikan 100 juta unit penicillin sehari tak menimbulkan efek apa-apa. Meski sebagian kecil orang alergi terhadap penicillin, buat kebanyakan orang merupakan obat yang bisa mematangkan daya tahan dan pengamanan

Fleming Menutup Mata
Pada 10 Maret 1945, Alexander Fleming meninggal dunia akibat serangan jantung pada usia 73 tahun. Jenazahnya dimakamkan di Katedral St Paul, London.
Suddenly Supernatural #2: Kat si Medium Penakut
Di buku kedua,ternyata kemampuan Kat melihat arwah juga menarik para arwah untuk mengerumuninya. Tapi, karena ini libur musim panas, maka Kat mencoba mengalihkan pikirannya dengan mengerjakan tugas liburan musim panasnya. Nah, ketika ia sedang mengerjakan proyeknya itulah, ia melihat seraut wajah di rumah kosong sebelahnya. Lalu ia memutuskan untuk menyusup ke rumah kosong itu dan menemukan tulisan di kaca: TOLONG AKU! Tapi,meskipun tulisan itu ditemukan di kaca dekat tempat arwah anak kecil bermain-main,namun di rumah itu juga ada hantu lelaki tua yang sangat menyeramkan buat Kat. Bagaimana Kat bisa menolong arwah kecil itu ya? Lalu masih ada lagi seorang pria ganteng berambut shaggy yang berkeliaran mencurigakan di dekat rumah kosong itu. Siapa ya dia? Kejutan lain buat pembaca nampaknya ada pada tokoh Jac, yang mengambil keputusan besar dalam hidupnya. Apa itu? Baca sendiri deh. Hehehe..
Meski saya belum baca buku pertama dari seri Suddenly Supernatural ini, namun saya tidak kesulitan menyimak ceritanya. Namun, saya jadi merasa pengen baca cerita Kat dalam buku pertamanya. Buku dengan segmen remaja yang mengangkat tema supranatural memang sempat ramai dulu jaman saya masih SD-SMP (jangan tanya angkatan berapa), baik berupa komik serial misteri, maupun kumpulan cerita. Membaca buku ini membuat saya sedikit terkenang pada masa itu. Apakah cerita Kat termasuk cerita horror? Buat saya tidak, karena segmen pembacanya adalah remaja. Kejadian Kat bertemu arwah-arwah itu tidak dikisahkan secara lebay agar terkesan menyeramkan kok, jadi jangan takut untuk membacanya.
Menurut saya, cerita Kat ini ditulis dengan sangat baik, plot nya oke meskipun tokohnya bisa dibilang sangat sedikit (tanpa menghitung figuran,Cuma ada 5 tokoh), terjemahannya bagus dan minim typo. Namun seperti saya singgung diatas, dulu buku supranatural sempat ramai dan saya termasuk yang sering membaca buku-buku tersebut, jadi pada pertengahan buku saya sudah bisa menebak kira-kira selanjutnya akan seperti apa-dan tebakan saya benar. Namun, saya suka cara pengarangnya menghidupkan tokoh-tokohnya tanpa terkesan lebay. Bahkan kehidupan keluarga Kat dan Jac sebenarnya mengajarkan sesuatu pada para orang tua. Bacaan ringan yang cukup menghibur. Ohya, sepertinya penerbit Atria kelupaan memberi nomor pada cover buku kedua ini agar pembaca yang belum mengetahui Suddenly Supernatural tidak terkecoh dengan sub-judulnya dan keliru mengira buku ini sebagai buku yang pertama
